The Benefits of Immersive Learning

Learning Serbian in a classroom is great when you’re starting from zero. However, after completing a beginner course, students usually feel demotivated. They still can’t understand native speakers or communicate with them.

Exposure to authentic language use and practice is the only way to develop your communication skills in Serbian. And, if you’re a beginner, the only way to immerse yourself in the language is to engage with materials that match your level.

Can I speak Serbian after listening to the TalkIn Serbian Beginner Podcast?

The conversations in this beginner podcast reflect genuine Serbian speech. This means you can apply the phrases we use directly in your conversations in Serbian.

Your proficiency, however, will depend on your acquired knowledge and practice.

What is the best way to learn Serbian from the beginner podcast?

First-time listening (without the learning materials)

  • First step. Listen to the episode of your choosing first and try to understand as much as you can. Don’t get upset if there are words or parts you don’t understand. The most important thing on your first listening is to figure out the context and the general topic of the episode.
  • Second step. Before starting a second listening, take a pen and paper. Write down every word or phrase you want to memorize or don’t understand. Once you finish, look up their meaning. Be aware of the context.
  • Third step. Once you’re sure you understand the whole conversation in Serbian, write down the questions or topics from the lesson. Think about or write down your answers to these questions. Practice these answers by recording yourself or in writing. If your goal is to speak as soon as possible, the best way would be to record yourself and review it.
  • Fourth step. Make sure to practice the most important bits from the lesson too. Listen to them over and over again and repeat them out loud.
